Updates and Changes to what “was” First Fridays:
New Name: “3-2-1 Playhouse” is the new name for our DSASBC Family Play Group, NOW meeting on Mondays beginning September 12th. This seems to be a better fit for our growing group of parents and children, ages birth – 4 years old with Down syndrome and their siblings of similar age.
New LOCATION: The group has enjoyed meeting outside over the summer at the Padaro Grill, (3765 Santa Clause Lane, Carpinteria), and will continue as long as the weather is favorable.
New DAY OF THE WEEK: Mondays on Sept 12th, Oct 3rd, Nov 7, and Dec 5th.
New TIME: from 11:00 – 12:30(or as long as you want to stay). Our goal is to help families get connected and stay connected; Come together to celebrate, support, encourage and have fun.

Meet other parents, friends and community supporters of DSASBC in a casual setting on the third Thursday of each month. This is our time to learn, discuss, plan and accomplish meaningful programs and services to support our loved ones with Down syndrome. Calendar it NOW and Come as often as you can. Join us for a FUN casual evening to Kickoff to October’s Down Syndrome Awareness Month: Invite your friends, family, and those supporting your child with Down syndrome to join us on Saturday, October 1st @ the SB Carriage and Western Arts Museum (located at 129 Castillo Street) anytime from 5-9 pm. BBQ Tri-Tip dinner, hamburgers/hot dogs served at 6 pm. Line dance instruction, Live Band, Carnival games, Carriage Rides, Dress-UP Photography, and FUN for everyone!
Tickets NOW available online @ www.dsasbc.eventbrite.com: $15. Adults; and $5. for children through 16. Price includes dinner, water, coffee, lemonade, dessert, dancing, carriage rides, games/activities. Extra fee for Wine, Beer & Margaritas .

October is Down Syndrome Awareness Month – Awareness and Inclusion Goals this year include:
- · Booklets for every school library, Power point classroom presentations
- · Media: Newspaper, online, Radio, TV & Gas Station Spots, posters
- · Community Service for people with Ds – find something successful your child and family can do. Examples: Senior home visits, Greeters @ church or community programs, assist an organization with an event; become ACTIVE and VISIBLE and build relationships in our community to “Break the Barriers”.
BE INVOLVED:
upport our good works and ensure they will grow – benefiting all community members with Down syndrome and breaking the barriers they face in our community and the world.Parents, Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles, Neighbors, Friends , Community Members and Groups who support those with Down syndrome are needed to lead or assist the important work and services of DSASBC which include:

Carrillo Street. This will be a casual but worthwhile time to discuss, plan and accomplish meaningful programs and services for our loved ones with Ds. All Year Round! 3-2-1 Play Group for Families of children Birth – 4 yrs old with Down syndrome;. A time of open play; there is no pressure or program. Let your little ones play while you interact with other moms and dads. Contact Jamie @ 805-566-4753.
Down Town Monthly outingsscheduled for families to meet up and enjoy time together in Santa Barbara or nearby towns: plays, movies, train ride to Ventura for beach play, trolley of lights tour are some of the events planned to get us through to the end of the year. Anyone of any age with Down syndrome, friends and family members welcomed.
Hoe Down - October 1st, 5 - 9 pm @ at the SB Carriage and Western Museum- Come for an evening of Boot Scoot-in fun including entertainment and activities for families and friends of kids with special needs. Volunteers needed to dance, play games, entertain and help keep up with the kids. Please let us know if can help with planning, set up or clean up or have special talents to contribute. Have fun and get to know others! Tickets required - $15.adults/$5.Kids
Fresco’s Patio @ 5 points - Wednesday, November 9th @ 9am; Meet for coffee and time to catch up with one another!
SB Trolley Holiday Lights Tour - December weekend date TBA 6 – 8 pm–Prepare to participate in a favorite Christmas story experience as our volunteers dress in costume and lead songs, games and serve hot cocoa, entertaining as we kids with special needs and their families while touring the city to see holiday lights. Fun and magic for everyone!
Mom’s Cruise - Invite a friend, book y our ticket and grab your passport to enjoy a 3-day cruise designed to bring together moms of children with Down syndrome to relax , meet new friends and be encouraged – January 2012.
Valentine Dance - Saturday, February 5th @ the SB Elks Lodge: Families and friends of loved ones with special needs ALL invited. Down Syndrome Association of Santa Barbara County is hosting an evening of music, dance and fun. Volunteers sought to make this a stellar annual event. “Lose the Training Wheels” Just Ride Bike Camp June 2012: Children, teens, and adults with disabilities learn how to ride a typical two-wheeled bike with this incredible, life enhancing program. By the end of the week, approximately 80% of our participants are riding their own two-wheeled bike! Register at www.sbSNAP.org.
Bike Rodeo, June 2012 4-6pm: Community members, friends & families bring bikes, helmets, and riders with special needs for our 2nd annual Bike Rodeo! Safe wide open space to ride plus lots of assistance for learning bike instruction and bike safety at this free event!
